These letters offer interesting insights into the relationship between composers and librettists in the mid nineteenth century . A) Signed autograph letter dated 'Trieste 29 Novembre 1834': 'ti darò conto dell'Opera del M. Nicolay sul tuo libretto La Rosmunda [...]Ho dunque posto in musica il tuo bellissimo libretto, la Francesca do Rimini; e senza toccare un verso...'. B) Signed autograph letter dated 'Trieste 9 settembre 1840': 'Siccome [...] oggidì de' fiaschi ne succedono spesso; perciò se un'Opera cade, si vuole subito delle novità per accontentare gli abbonati, e per bilanciare il Repertorio stabil­ito, perciò un accorto impresario com'è il Sig. Ciaccone non si farà rincrescere di contentare un amico...'. C) Signed autograph letter dated 1December 1840: 'Approfitto dunque dello compiacenza del tuo amico il Sig. D) Signed autograph letter dated 8 May 1841 'Cotesto Sig. Ciaccone, col quale non si potrà combinare cosa alcuna, essendo più duro di un macigno!
